Edwin Jones Named Head Coach of the Tigers Basketball Team

Edwin “Fuzzy” Jones has been named the next Head Coach of the Tigers Varsity Basketball Team. Edwin replaces Coach James Rowe, who retired at the end of the season after coaching the Tigers for 22 years and won 441 games and one state title in 2008.

Edwin was given the nickname “Fuzzy” by his mother when he was born since he was very hairy and he has embraced it ever since. When he was in college playing basketball he went by Fuzzy Jones.

Edwin went to Cocoa High School and played basketball. As a senior he was selected to the All-Conference and All-Central Florida Teams  Edwin graduated from Cocoa High School in 1986.

He then attended and played basketball at Florida College. He made a name for himself as a player by setting the record for most assists in a single season and the most assists throughout his entire career.

He graduated with his associates degree in 1989. Edwin finished college at Life University in Marietta, Georgia. At Life University he was named two time Defensive Player of The Year. He graduated with a bachelors degree in Business Management.

Edwin began coaching when he was eighteen years old and still in school. He coached a AAU Team named “The Afro City Tigers”. Edwin and the Tigers won a Florida State Championship and National Championship in 1989.

Since then Edwin has won several away championships with Brevard Elite, coached ten years at McNair and on 5 county championships and 7 division championships.

For the past three years Edwin has coached the Rockledge Raiders Junior Varsity Basketball team and had a record of 59-6.

Edwin has been coaching for twenty nine years, you can say he is very experienced.  He looks to implement what he has learned throughout his lengthy coaching career to bring success to the Cocoa Tigers Basketball Team.

    Tremendous loss from McNair and Rockledge HS but phenomenal gain for Cocoa HS students. Very happy for Coach Fuzzy and looking forward to years of success. There is no one who deserves this more!
