Lady Tigers, Track and Field

An amazing program offered at Cocoa is the track and field program. Conditioning usually starts early October and states is in early May, but the official track season doesn’t start until january when we come back from winter break. If you would like to continue after the school year summer track is from May-July. There are many different events you can do from the 100 meter dash to the triple jump. Track is a great sport if you’re not very good at hooping or at football or soccer because all you need is yourself and some good running shoes ;). Every Monday – Thursday practice is after school from 3:45 to about 4:30 – 5:00. Later in the season times may vary and days will change. However, this is not an easy sport and you will need lots of dedication and will to actually succeed when it comes to being a “tracklete”. Some people like to say “if it were easy everyone would do it” and it’s definitely not easy that’s why a lot of people don’t do it so make sure you’ve got the will to do it if you are considering it. Also it is very important that you get your sports physical and EKG turned into one of the coaches because track and field is a very physical sport, and a very cardio sport. So if you don’t have a good heart or not the best lungs maybe you might want to look into some other things because this definitely will not be for you. With all of this being said I hope you are able to decide if this will be the sport for you or maybe even something you will possibly look into sometime in the future. I hope to see you out there in January. 🙂
